Dolphin cake…
This cake was made for a birthday girl who used to train dolphins, sea lions, & penguins in Hawaii. The names represent her favorite animals. It is a white vanilla almond cake with chocolate ganache and fresh sliced strawberry filling. The dolphins are hand sculpted from modeling chocolate. The other animals are hand painted and made out of fondant. The sphere cake on top is made out of rice krispies.

AWESOME CAKE!
A great example at how personalized you can make cakes. Took a love for work and turned it into a wonderful cake; and it tasted great too!
This will be a birthday that will not be forgotten.
Thanks again,
John

Hi Mary,
If you have a craft store nearby like Michaels or Joanns they carry cake supplies made by Wilton. Walmart also usually has a small supply of these things. You can home make fondant but I like to use Wilton’s fondant. For the checkerboard you just need a square cookie cutter and you can either hand mold the chess pieces or buy a mold for them. There are lots of online cake/candy supply stores to get things like that. I like to order from Country Kitchen Sweetart online. If you have never worked with fondant before I suggest doing a practice run prior to the cake. There are lots of great instructional videos on youtube that people have made on how to use fondant. Good luck with the cake! This is exactly how we both started making cakes..we just bought some stuff and tried it out. Found out we loved doing it and learned with each new cake we made. Email us a picture of your final cake!
