Meoi made this retro surf cake to celebrate Mike and Mary’s 40th birthday. It’s vanilla cake with fresh strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream. The surf boards and #40 were made from gumpaste The “sand” was created using crushed pecan sandy cookies. The entire cake was airbrushed to give the sunset feel.

The bottom tier of this cake was a moist lemon pound cake with raspberry cream cheese swirl filling. The top tier was a red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. The numbers on top were made with gum paste while everything else was decorated with fondant.
